At about 3am the whole of West St. in Reigate was at a standstill due to the snow accumulation and the fact that the exit slip for Reigate on the M25 had been closed because of a jackknifed lorry.
There was a tailback and gridlock of articulated lorries and cars on West St. in Reigate. Reigate residents came out to the aid of the stranded drivers. Two of those were the pub landlord of the Red Cross pub and his manager, who used a shovel, broom and huge bucket of salt to clear the junction of West St and London Rd.
Every time you see something like this, firstly you thank God that you may never have to rely on their skill and professionalism, secondly that the person whose rescue they came to today, will be OK due those same qualities.
